In 1999, legendary Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu World Champion and Carlson Gracie black belt, Ricardo Liborio, co-founded Brazilian Top Team, which grew to be the best MMA team in the world. Later in 2002, Master Liborio co-founded American Top Team, which also then grew to be the best MMA team in world.
In 2004, Jayson Patino would start his Jiu-Jitsu journey with the UCF Jiu-Jitsu club. Jayson would show up an hour before wrestling practice started in order to practice Jiu-Jitsu. After graduating from UCF, Jayson continued training and competing in Jiu-Jitsu and fighting professional MMA. Then in 2011, he opened American Top Team East Orlando. In 2013 Jayson was awarded his black belt in Jiu-Jitsu by Master Liborio. Jayson’s mission has always been to help as many students as possible both on and off the mats.
A few years later, Ricardo Liborio left ATT, and in 2023 Jayson also left to start his own brand. Today, Champions Jiu-Jitsu & Muay Thai continues to offer the same high-quality standards and world class training that it always offered. Jayson is committed to helping every student improve their lives, both inside the academy, and in life. As a competitor, he learned that self-discipline, work ethic, and smart goal setting can help you achieve anything you want in life. As an instructor and father, he has learned that patience, creativity, and attention to detail can help other’s reach their full potential. Jayson has a passion for self-improvement and helping others reach their goals. Through his years of experience and research, Jayson has written several programs on the proper ways to diet, improving mental strength, setting and achieving goals, how to cope with adversity, overcoming and learning from failure, training for competition, and how to achieve overall happiness.
Jayson’s martial arts journey started in Taekwondo at four years old. He started wrestling in high school and continued at the University of Central Florida where he was a 2x All American (helping UCF win 2 National Championships) while earning a degree in Social Science Education. He began training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at the UCF Jiu-Jitsu club in 2004 and later transitioned into fighting professional Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). Jayson trained MMA and Muay Thai Kickboxing for over ten years. Later he shifted his focus to competing in the IBJJF, ADCC, FILA, & UWW World Championships in his quest to be a World Champion.
In 2009 he won the Abu Dhabi Combat Club (ADCC) North American Trials and competed at the ADCC World Championships, which are considered the Olympics of grappling. In the IBJJF (International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation) World Championships he medaled in every belt rank he competed at. Then, in 2014 he achieved a life goal by winning the FILA World Championships in Budapest, Hungary. Jayson has also coached several times in the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championships) in different cities throughout the world. He is currently a 3rd degree Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Ricardo Liborio.

Marcio Pimentel is a world class instructor that has coached Olympic athletes and UFC Champions. Marcio has dedicated his life, first, as a Judo and Jiu-Jitsu athlete and currently as an instructor of the martial arts and high level conditioning coach. He began training Judo when he was 7 years old and Jiu-Jitsu around the age of 20 at Carlson Gracie Academy. He earned his Black Belt in Judo in 1987 and is a 4th degree Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Murilo Bustamante.
He graduated with a degree in Physical Education, specializing in training, strength planning and conditioning. The combination of martial arts knowledge and higher levels of education have allowed Master Pimentel to help young students improve their lives both on and off the mat.

Brandon “Maui” Pureza started training with Champions Jiu Jitsu & Muay Thai in 2020. He is currently a Purple Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

Justin Cobb attended the University of Central Florida (UCF) where he studied Physical Therapy and Athletic Training. Justin returned to UCF as a professor to Pre-Medical and Pre-Physical Therapy students while also working for Cirque Du Soleil and Sports Specific Training and Rehabilitation. During his tenure, Justin has earned numerous postgraduate certifications including Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and Neuro Emotional Techniques (N.E.T). He is now a co-founder and president of New Dimensions Wellness in Orlando, Florida.

Jenessa “Nessa” Soto started training in 2014. She is currently a Brown Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

Black belt in Shotokan Karate, Purple belt in BJJ. Began Jiujitsu at 8 years old and have been training since for over a decade. 3 year varsity wrestler, 3x state finalist 2x state champ, 3x Pan American IBJJF champ, and 2x World IBJJF champ. Newbreeds, Nagas, and super fights. Helps out with kids classes, teaches the competition class at UCF BJJ club, and occasionally referees on weekends. She has won over 50 gold medals in NAGA, Newbreed, and other tournaments & super fights
She is currently attending UCF studying in the Bio-Medical field on track to go to Medical school.
